Yaman "yam" Ergenekon's Tainted Minds have won the third split of CyberGamer Premier League 2017 over Grayhound in the grand final. The top four Australian teams from the eight team online league met face-to-face at the CGPL Adelaide studios in the weekend for a lion's share of $15,500 AUD prize pot (~$12,350 including travel assistance). The Australian event kicked off with a semi-final rematch between the ROG APAC finalists, Athletico and Grayhound, which went in the way of Erdenetsogt "erkaSt" Gantulga's side 2-1 once again. On the other hand, the two-time reigning CGPL champions Chiefs narrowly lost to the Asia Minor attendees Tainted Minds in 2-1 fashion. Another nail-biting match going to all three maps saw Tainted Minds emerge as the victors in the upper bracket final against Grayhound, securing themselves a spot in the grand final with a 1-0 advantage for the best-of-five series. Athletico was the first team to be eliminated at the Spring Finals, following a 2-1 victory by Chiefs in the lower bracket. Tyler "tucks" Reilly's crew failed to defend their CGPL LAN streak as Grayhound sent them home in two straight maps.Despite being the fourth team to qualify for the CGPL Championship, Grayhound were unable to take a map off Yaman "yam" Ergenekon's squad, who quickly closed the series 3-0 after a confident 1-nil lead, heading into the game.
