Lemondogs have won the 2on2 World Championshop at DreamHack Summer 2013 by defeating NiP 16-13 after overtime, bringing them 100,000 SEK (~$15,500). Due to time constraints this tournament named 2on2 World Championship and held at the Telia booth at DreamHack Summer 2013 switched its structure to bracket instead of having the 8 teams play group stage first. Also, earlier today fnatic forfeited their spot and the organizers invited Lemondogs instead to compete for the winner-takes-all 100,000 SEK prize. It would turn out that the replacement team would come in and turn some heads, firstly eliminating ESC 13-6 on de_nuke_se and then edging out Virtus.pro in the semi-final on de_dust 13-11. Especially worth mentioning was the last round of the match against the CIS-based squad in which Simon "twist" Eliasson scored an AWP headshot on Kirill "ANGE1" Karasiow through the double doors and also wounded Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov in the same fashion only a second later, which practically won the match for his team.
On the other side of the bracket it was of course NiP that reached the final, represented by Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and Adam "friberg" Friberg. They beat Curse on de_nuke_se 13-10 and Western Wolves on de_dust 13-9. It was the Lemondogs duo that started well on their de_aztec CT side, taking 5-0 and 8-1 leads, but Alesund and Friberg got the final three rounds of the half to feel comfortable before sides changed. NiP quickly got into the lead at 10-9, but the server was DDoSed at that point causing a short break. After restarting the match Lemondogs led by Eliasson's AWP turned their fortunes around and took a 12-10 lead. And that wasn't all we'd see, as Alesund stepped up in the last two rounds, including a nail-biting 1-on-2 to take the match into overtime. It was in vain though, as Eliasson's AWP proved to be the deciding factor that led Lemondogs to clinch the match 16-13 and claim the 100,00 SEK prize.
